Small Block - Huge Money: Rosatom Estimates the Effect of Nuclear Power Plant Construction in Uzbekistan

The project could bring Russian companies up to 2 trillion rubles and create thousands of jobs

The head of Rosatom stated that the construction of even one small power unit at the nuclear power plant site in Uzbekistan will provide Russian enterprises with orders worth up to 2 trillion rubles. According to him, the project will involve a wide range of contractors — both private and with state participation.

From the point of view of employment, we are talking about approximately 1 thousand jobs in Russia. At the same time, the economic effect is estimated even higher: the invested funds can be returned with a multiplier of up to 1.5 at the construction stage and up to 2 during the operation of the station.

Thus, the project is considered not only as an energy initiative, but also as a major driver for industry and the economy, capable of providing long-term loading of enterprises and growth of related industries.

Rosatom and Uzatom signed an additional agreement, which revises the configuration of the future nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan. The document consolidates the transition to a combined scheme: the project will combine both small and large power units within the same site.
