In Uzbekistan, a new system of fines for traffic violations recorded by cameras came into effect on April 1. Now, the driver, not the owner of the car, is responsible.
To ensure that penalty points are correctly assigned, the car owner must indicate who was driving through the my.gov.uz portal or the SafeRoad application. The driver confirms the data with an electronic signature or FaceID, after which the Road Safety Service assigns points to their name.
The department notes that after the introduction of the system, the number of accidents caused by drivers has already decreased by 34%. The main goal of the innovation is to increase the responsibility of road users and encourage safe behavior on the roads. Drivers who follow the rules will not receive penalty points.
