Banking Apps in Uzbekistan Radically Tighten Security: Transfers Will Be Blocked Even During Calls

New rules introduce biometrics, device control, and instant response to suspicious activity

From April 22, banking applications in Uzbekistan are transitioning to an enhanced security mode, which significantly changes the rules for registering and using services. Now, when creating an account, the system automatically verifies the phone number against the client's PINFL, and registration will be impossible if they do not match. This should close one of the key channels for fraud.

The process of linking cards is also becoming more complicated: after registration, a separate authorization with a one-time code valid for less than a minute will be required. Only your own cards or cards of close relatives can be linked, and all actions are accompanied by a biometric "live presence" check, excluding the use of photos or videos.

The system will track the device, IP address, and even smartphone changes. Any login from a new gadget will lead to unlinking of cards and require re-verification. Moreover, applications will be able to block transfers while talking on the phone or when detecting remote access via Telegram and WhatsApp. Automatic session termination after 3 minutes of inactivity and the ability to disable suspicious connections in real time have also been introduced.
