The multipurpose research reactor MBIR is gradually becoming a key platform for international cooperation in nuclear energy. During a visit to China, the consortium's delegation held talks with leading research centers, including the CEFR project and the EAST thermonuclear complex. The main focus was on the possibilities of conducting joint experiments using the MBIR reactor.
The unique characteristics of the facility allow for a wide range of research, from testing new materials and nuclear fuel to tasks related to the development of thermonuclear fusion. The high neutron flux density and flexible experimental infrastructure make MBIR one of the most promising platforms for developing new generation nuclear energy technologies.
Uzbekistan is actively joining the project: the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences has gained access to part of the reactor resource after the facility was launched. Participation in the Rosatom international program opens up opportunities for Uzbek scientists to conduct research in the fields of materials science, radioisotopes, and a closed nuclear fuel cycle, strengthening the country's position in global scientific cooperation.
