The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan has reviewed a draft law on the creation of the International Center for Digital Technologies. The document provides for the establishment of a separate territory with a special legal regime for the development of the IT sector and the attraction of foreign technology companies.
The initiative provides for simplified procedures for business registration, licensing, and operations, as well as the introduction of international regulatory standards. A "one-stop shop" system is planned for the center's participants, along with a reduction in administrative barriers when interacting with government agencies.
A separate section of the draft law concerns tax and customs benefits, including exemption from certain taxes until 2100 and simplified import of equipment and technologies. It also enshrines guarantees for the protection of investments and intellectual property, and allows the application of international law in dispute resolution. The document has already received conceptual approval in the first reading.
