AI Leap in Uzbekistan: The Country Prepares Around 200 Projects and Sets Ambitious Goals Until 2030

Artificial intelligence is being introduced into key sectors - from medicine to banking, and the market is planned to reach $1.5 billion

Uzbekistan plans to launch about 200 projects in the field of artificial intelligence in the next two years. This was announced by the First Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies, Oleg Pekos, at a session within the framework of the "Innoprom. Central Asia" exhibition in Tashkent. More than 100 initiatives are already being implemented in the country, and their number is planned to double by the end of 2027.

The main areas of AI implementation include healthcare, education, transport, energy, the banking sector, and customs processes. The focus is on applied solutions that combine several models and create ready-made products. The average cost of projects is estimated at $200–300 thousand, with an expected payback period of 1–3 years.

Special emphasis is placed on personnel training. In cooperation with the UAE, the Five Million Uzbek AI Prompters program is being implemented, which plans to train millions of schoolchildren, students, teachers, and civil servants. The previously approved AI development strategy until 2030 envisages the country entering the world's top 50 in AI readiness and achieving a technology market level of $1.5 billion.
