Cameras in Uzbekistan began massively catching drivers without licenses

The automatic fixation system has identified many cases across the country and is already issuing multi-million dollar fines

In Uzbekistan, an intelligent photo and video recording system has identified 192 cases of driving by individuals deprived of their driver's licenses in a short period. Cameras automatically cross-reference car numbers with judicial restriction databases and record violations without the involvement of an inspector.

The geography of violations covered almost all regions of the country. Khorezm led with 60 cases, followed by the capital Tashkent with 40 incidents. Violations were also recorded in Kashkadarya and Tashkent regions, Fergana, Andijan, and other regions, where the system consistently detects repeat offenses.

Fines amounting to 50 basic calculated values – over 20 million sums – have already been imposed for some of the cases. Law enforcement agencies warn that repeated attempts to drive without a license may no longer lead to fines, but to criminal liability with imprisonment for up to several years.
