Uzbekistan's economy continues to grow: by the end of January–March 2026, the country's GDP reached 447.9 trillion soums, an increase of 8.7% year-on-year. However, the structure of regional development remains extremely heterogeneous — from highly developed industrial centers to regions with a noticeably smaller contribution to the economy.
Tashkent remains the absolute leader, accounting for 21.1% of national GDP and showing a growth of 13%. Navoi Region takes second place with an 11.7% share, but it recorded the lowest growth rate — 6.1%. Tashkent Region also entered the top three with a 9.7% share. Syrdarya and Jizzakh made the least significant contribution to the economy.
The sectoral structure also varies greatly: industry dominates in Navoi Region, services in the capital, and agriculture plays a key role in the southern regions. The construction sector became the fastest-growing area, especially in Karakalpakstan, where growth reached 70%. At the same time, small businesses form almost half of the country's economy, but their share ranges from 12.9% in Navoi to over 70% in individual agricultural regions.
