Uzbekistan's public debt reached $46.985 billion by the end of the first quarter of 2026, equivalent to 26.6% of the country's GDP. These figures are presented in the official statistics of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the republic.
The debt structure shows a clear predominance of external borrowings: they amount to approximately $39.776 billion, or 85% of the total volume. Domestic debt is estimated at $7.209 billion. Moreover, the majority of obligations are denominated in foreign currency, which creates a significant dependence on external financial conditions.
In terms of debt servicing, a significant share is accounted for by fixed and floating interest rates, and the bulk of obligations are long-term in nature — over 83% are due for repayment in more than one year. Short-term obligations are practically absent, which indicates a relatively extended payment structure over time.
