Uzbekistan Prepares for the 6G Era: New Projects Launched with Russian University

Focus on Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Training a New Generation of IT Specialists

Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, during his visit to Russia, visited the St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications named after Professor M. A. Bonch-Bruevich, where he discussed with the university's leadership the expansion of cooperation in digital education, science, and personnel training for high-tech industries.

During the negotiations, the parties paid special attention to promising areas, including 5G and 6G technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and telecommunications. The development of partnerships between SPbSUT, Tashkent University of Information Technologies, and Cyber University was also discussed. Among the initiatives are the launch of dual degree programs, the expansion of opportunities for Uzbek students to study for master's and doctoral degrees, and the development of academic exchange.

Another important outcome of the meeting was the discussion of creating a joint research center that will focus on developments in next-generation communication networks and radio frequency spectrum management. During the visit, the delegation familiarized themselves with the university's laboratories and research centers working in the fields of cybersecurity, radio communications, and modern telecommunications. It is expected that new projects will help strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia in the IT sector and train specialists in demand in the international technology market.
