Hong Kong Interested in Uzbekistan's IT Revolution: AI and Digital Silk Road in Focus

High-level delegation visited IT Park Uzbekistan and discussed new technological projects

A delegation led by John Lee Ka-chiu visited IT Park Uzbekistan as part of an official visit to Uzbekistan. The guests were presented with the country's achievements in digital economy development, measures to support IT companies and startups, and programs to attract foreign investors and specialists. Special attention was paid to the IT Visa and Zero Risk initiatives, aimed at developing international technological cooperation.

During the visit, Hong Kong representatives familiarized themselves with digital services and solutions already in use in the country. These include e-government projects, UZINFOCOM platforms, the DMED digital ecosystem, the MyID biometric identification system, and the MyGov public services portal. The Uzbek side also spoke about reforms aimed at creating a modern technological ecosystem and expanding the export of digital services.

A key event was a meeting dedicated to the prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hong Kong in the field of innovation. The parties discussed the implementation of artificial intelligence, the development of venture financing, support for startups, and interaction between technology parks. John Lee Ka-chiu highly appreciated the results of Uzbekistan's digital transformation and noted the potential for joint work within the framework of forming a digital Silk Road. The implementation of the artificial intelligence development strategy until 2030, which provides for the introduction of AI in public administration, education, and healthcare, was separately noted.
