Andijan International Airport for the first time in its history welcomed a wide-body Airbus A330-300 aircraft, opening a new stage in the development of regional aviation infrastructure. The first flight on the Medina – Andijan route was operated by the Saudi low-cost airline Flyadeal, carrying 354 passengers.
The landing took place on July 3 at 16:40 Tashkent time and was met with a traditional water salute. The new flight will become regular: the Medina – Andijan – Medina route will be served once a week, on Fridays.
The symbolic significance of the event is also emphasized by the participation of regional authorities in meeting the first flight. The airport notes that the ability to receive such aircraft appeared after a large-scale reconstruction completed in 2025. At that time, the runway, taxiways, and apron were completely renovated, which made it possible to receive wide-body liners.
The launch of the flight strengthens the transport connectivity of the Fergana Valley and is especially important for pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia. In addition to the new destination, direct flights from Andijan are already operated to Russia, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, gradually turning the airport into a full-fledged international aviation hub of the region.
