From January 1, 2027, Uzbekistan will become a full member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This new status will allow the country not only to use international standards but also to participate in their development and updating through the organization's technical committees.

Uzbekistan has been cooperating with the IEC since 2015, and in 2023, it gained associate member status. Now, the country will become the only Central Asian state with full membership in the commission. This will give Uzbek experts more opportunities to influence the formation of international technical requirements.

The IEC has developed over 11,000 standards, about 2,000 of which have already been implemented in Uzbekistan. In the future, cooperation is planned to expand in the fields of artificial intelligence, IT, cybersecurity, electrical engineering, energy efficiency, and renewable energy.

The parties will pay special attention to the training of national experts and their work in the IEC technical committees. It is expected that compliance with international standards will increase the competitiveness of Uzbek products and facilitate their entry into foreign markets.
