The Uzbekistan national team achieved a historic milestone at the 38th International Olympiad in Informatics IOI 2026, held in Tashkent. For the first time, all four members of the national team became prize-winners: they secured one silver and three bronze medals.
The silver medal was won by ninth-grader Jokhanali Khaydaraliev from the Muhammad al-Khwarizmi School. Bronze medalists include Timur Kadyrbergenov from the Presidential School in Nukus, Ulugbek Rakhmatullaev from the Presidential School in Namangan, and Jakhongirshokh Avazkhonov from the same school. Another Uzbek student, Sardorbek Salimov from the Presidential School in Navoi, received an "Honorable Mention."
This success is the result of many years of preparation by young programmers and the work of their mentors. Authorities also attribute these achievements to the development of digital education and support for talented youth. The IOI 2026 result is one of the best in the history of the Uzbekistan national team and could provide new impetus for the development of school programming in the country.
