Uzbekistan is preparing a large-scale reform of its data management system. On September 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the conduct of a business census, the creation of a Data Management Commission, and the launch of a National Data Platform by July 1, 2027. The decision was made after the presentation of the results of the population and agricultural census, which revealed significant discrepancies with previous statistical data.

According to preliminary census results, the country's permanent population is 39.047 million people. Data on the place of residence and social status of 810.6 thousand people, previously not reflected in the records, were clarified. The agricultural census also allowed for the clarification of information on 985.5 thousand hectares of land. The digital format helped complete the work in 15 days: 82.3% of the population were enumerated online, and costs did not exceed 1.5 thousand soums per person.

The next stage will be a business census, planned to be conducted from October 15 to November 30, 2026. It should help update enterprise registers and identify inactive organizations. Simultaneously, the authorities will create a unified state data management system: by the end of 2026, existing systems will be inventoried, and by July 2027, data will be integrated into the National Platform. By 2030, it is planned to reduce the reporting burden on entrepreneurs by 20%, increase the use of alternative data sources by 1.7 times, and accelerate information processing by 20%.
