The construction of the integrated NPP in the Jizzakh region is proceeding according to the approved schedule, announced Azim Akhmedkhadjaev, head of Uzatom. Since the pouring of the first concrete, approximately 915 cubic meters of concrete have been used on site. According to the agency head, several thousand more cubic meters are to be poured by the end of the year.

Concurrently, external infrastructure necessary for the plant is being created at an accelerated pace. Akhmedkhadjaev emphasized that the work is being carried out in compliance with international requirements, and Uzbekistan regularly interacts with the IAEA. The project is being implemented in a new configuration agreed upon by Uzatom and Rosatom in 2025.

The integrated plant will include two large power units with VVER-1000 Generation 3+ reactors with a total capacity of 2 GW and two small RITM-200N units of 55 MW each. The total capacity of the NPP will exceed 2.1 GW. The official start of construction was given on June 4 with the ceremony of pouring the first concrete at the site in the Farish district.
