Uzbekistan and China intend to expand cooperation in hydrometeorology, digital forecasting, and early warning systems. Interaction issues were discussed on September 21–23 at the Second China – Central Asia Meteorological Cooperation Forum in Urumqi. Participants focused on modernizing observation systems, data exchange, satellite technologies, and the application of artificial intelligence to improve forecast accuracy.

One of the key areas was the possibility of adapting the Chinese MAZU platform in Uzbekistan. The system uses artificial intelligence, satellite data, and other meteorological sources to forecast dangerous phenomena and generate early warnings. The Chinese side presented a plan for implementing MAZU in Central Asian countries for 2026–2027.
Uzbekistan is considering localizing the platform, taking into account national requirements. Priority tasks include forecasting sand and dust storms, droughts, extreme heat, heavy precipitation, and floods. The parties agreed to continue the technical development of the project, including issues of server infrastructure, data exchange, and the integration of new tools with the national hydrometeorological system.
