Uzbekistan's exports of natural and artificial gas for January–August 2026 decreased by 34.8% year-on-year, to $322.3 million. At the same time, gas imports increased by 15.2% and reached $1.22 billion. Purchases of liquefied gas increased particularly significantly: propane imports amounted to $124.3 million, increasing 3.5 times. The decline in export capabilities is occurring against the backdrop of a drop in its own natural gas production.

Over eight months, Uzbekistan produced 24.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas, compared to 28.9 billion cubic meters a year earlier, which corresponds to a decrease of 16.3%. Gas condensate production also decreased by 14.8% — from 760.5 thousand to 648.3 thousand tons. At the same time, automotive gasoline production increased by 4.6%, to 811.3 thousand tons, and diesel fuel — by 6.1%, to 834.3 thousand tons.
Overall, exports of mineral fuels, lubricants, and related materials increased by 4.3%, to $1.06 billion, and their share in total exports reached 4.6%. Imports of this group increased by 7.2%, to $2.75 billion. Gasoline supplies increased by 48.6%, to $437.4 million, while diesel fuel imports decreased by 12.3%, to $179.5 million. Electricity exports, meanwhile, increased by 25.2%, to $139.2 million, and its imports decreased by 24.1%, to $57.5 million.
