Five autonomous watering systems for saigas and other wild animals have been installed in the Ustyurt desert in the Saigachiy complex landscape reserve. The complexes operate on solar energy, so they do not require connection to centralized electricity and water supply networks. The project was implemented as part of Aral Sea Wetlands by the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change in cooperation with UNDP and GEF.

Each installation is equipped with a 3 cubic meter tank, a pump, sensors, and meters. The equipment automatically provides water supply, which is especially important for animals in arid desert areas with limited access to natural sources. The use of autonomous power supply allows such systems to be placed directly in animal habitats without the construction of appropriate infrastructure.

At the same time, 10 cameras and 10 camera traps were installed in the reserve to observe the fauna. They operate around the clock, recording the presence and movements of animals, including near watering holes. The collected data can be used by specialists to monitor the state of populations and analyze the behavior of wild animals. Thus, the project combines autonomous energy, automatic water supply, and remote monitoring systems to preserve the biodiversity of Ustyurt.
