State-owned company takes back Takhiatash Thermal Power Plant: private management failed to meet expectations

The station's financial indicators showed no breakthrough during the trust management period

The Takhiatash Thermal Power Plant is returning under state control. According to a presidential resolution dated February 25, management of the facility is once again being transferred to JSC "Thermal Power Plants". Since September 2023, 100% of the plant had been under the trust management of Smart Integrity me.

Formally, the decision on the transfer had been made earlier, but it was not publicly covered. At the end of 2023, Takhiatash TPP posted a profit of 4.37 billion soums, compared with 382.9 billion soums in 2021 and 56.6 billion soums in 2022. The business plan for 2024 projected revenue of 3.39 trillion soums with a net profit of 4.4 billion soums.

The final results for 2024 have not yet been disclosed; however, after 9 months, most KPIs were not met. Net profit amounted to 2.12 billion soums with revenue of 2.17 trillion soums. In 2025, profit increased to 4.7 billion soums, but revenue growth rates proved modest, and operating expenses rose by 45%, which led to a decline in profit from core operations.
