The international rating agency Sustainable Fitch has confirmed the sustainable development ratings of Uzbekistan's largest mining and metallurgical companies — NMMC and AMMC — at the level of "3". At the same time, the overall scores of the enterprises increased: NMMC's indicator increased from 51 to 54 points, and AMMC's — from 56 to 59 points.
The agency noted that the improvement in results is associated with the active implementation of sustainable development strategies and consideration of environmental and social factors specific to the mining industry. In particular, NMMC is implementing programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and more efficient use of natural resources.
AMMC, in turn, is developing a long-term climate strategy aimed at reducing the carbon intensity of production and expanding the use of renewable energy sources. Experts also emphasized the high level of corporate governance in companies, including transparent financial reporting, effective risk management and tax obligations, which strengthens the position of enterprises in international markets.
