Uzbekistan Seeks Technologies for its NPP: "Uzatom" Holds Talks with Framatome

The French company may help with control systems and technologies for future nuclear power units

Representatives of Uzatom and the French company Framatome discussed the development of cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. The working meeting took place on March 9 at Framatome headquarters with the participation of the director of the agency, Azim Akhmedkhadjaev, and the senior executive vice president of the company, Laurent Thieffry.

The parties focused on the introduction of modern automated process control systems at nuclear power plants. Issues of experience exchange, technology transfer, and joint work to improve the reliability and safety of nuclear facilities were also discussed.

A separate topic was the prospect of a strategic partnership in the implementation of nuclear power unit construction projects in Uzbekistan. Framatome is one of the world leaders in the nuclear industry and is already participating in international projects with Rosatom, including the construction of the Paks II NPP in Hungary and the El Dabaa NPP in Egypt.
