Uzbekistan Introduces "Car-Free Day" and "Car-Free Week"

From May 1, 2026, Uzbekistan will begin holding new environmental campaigns "Car-Free Day" and "Car-Free Week." State employees are prohibited from using official transport on the 10th and 25th of each month, while drivers' salaries are maintained if the dates fall on working days.

From August 1, 2026, a trade-in program will be launched: individuals and legal entities will be compensated for part of the interest rate on car loans when they hand in old cars and buy new ones. In addition, as part of the "Ecological Transport" system, Tashkent will be divided into "red," "yellow," and "green" zones by the end of the year to improve the environmental situation.

From April 1, 2026, the creation of "green walls" will begin in the Surkhandarya and Syrdarya regions, which will help reduce dust storms and improve air quality in the region.
