President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree launching the national project "Clean Air" for 2026–2030. The goal of the initiative is to reduce emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere by 10.5% and improve air quality in cities.
The project plans to install automatic monitoring stations, introduce gas and dust purification systems at enterprises of the first and second categories according to the level of environmental impact, and reduce the number of days with exceeding permissible concentrations of PM2.5.
In Tashkent, the work of the commission on urgent environmental measures has been extended until March 1, 2027 — now it operates under the name Republican Special Commission for Improving the Environmental Situation. An indefinite moratorium on the creation of new industrial zones is being introduced from April 1. These measures are aimed at systematically improving the environment and strengthening control over air quality.
