Uzbekistan is preparing to change the procedure for blocking bank accounts of entrepreneurs in case of tax violations. The draft law, already adopted in the first reading by the Oliy Majlis, provides for simplification of procedures and reduction of the administrative burden on business.
According to the amendments, if an entrepreneur admits a violation and does not dispute it, the tax authorities will be able to make a decision on temporary blocking of accounts without going to court. The same procedure will apply to the removal of restrictions: after the violations are eliminated, accounts will be unblocked through the tax service in an accelerated mode.
At the same time, the mechanism of judicial protection is preserved. If the business does not agree with the actions of the tax authorities, the issue will be considered in economic courts. It is expected that the innovation will allow companies to resume operations more quickly and reduce financial losses due to downtime.
