Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Mirvokhid Azimov held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Asad Majeed Khan. The parties discussed further development of cooperation within the ECO framework and the implementation of joint projects aimed at strengthening economic ties between member states.
One of the main topics of the negotiations was the development of transport corridors and increasing the interconnectedness of the region's countries. Issues of trade expansion, digitalization of customs procedures, and the elimination of obstacles that slow down the movement of goods and services across borders were also discussed. According to the meeting participants, these measures can significantly increase the efficiency of economic interaction within the organization.
Special attention was paid to the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan, previously presented at ECO summits. In particular, the discussion focused on promoting the economic cooperation strategy until 2035, preparing an agreement on trade facilitation, and further steps to deepen integration. In addition, the parties coordinated approaches to organizing upcoming ECO events and coordinating work on implementing planned initiatives.
