An emergency power outage occurred at the new thermal power plant of EDF company in the Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan. The incident was recorded on the morning of September 25: around 05:05, 1600 MW of generation was disconnected from the facility. Commissioning and adjustment works are currently ongoing at the station, which was recently put into operation. The activation of anti-emergency automation led to short-term power supply interruptions in certain areas of the country.
Temporarily without electricity were, among others, pumping stations providing water supply for agriculture, as well as household consumers. To restore power supply, backup capacities of energy storage and power plants were utilized. After this, disconnected consumers were gradually returned to normal power supply.

According to the Kazakh company KEGOC, the actual generation shutdown in the power system of Uzbekistan amounted to 1516 MW at 05:02. This caused a power overflow from the unified power system of Central Asia and a division of transit in the North–South direction. In Kazakhstan, due to the activation of automation, 962 MW of load was temporarily restricted. By 05:43, the parallel operation of the power systems was restored, after which restrictions for consumers were lifted.
