The installed capacity of wind power plants in Uzbekistan is planned to be increased to more than 10 GW by 2030. With the commissioning of new facilities, wind generation is expected to take a more prominent place in the country's renewable energy structure. The Ministry of Energy notes that one of the advantages of this direction is the longer potential operation of plants at full capacity.

On average, wind power plants in Uzbekistan are capable of operating at nominal capacity for about 3200 hours per year. For solar power plants, the similar figure is approximately 2300 hours. Thus, with the same installed capacity of 1 MW, a wind turbine can potentially produce approximately 1.4 times more electricity per year.

The increase in wind generation volumes, combined with the high potential for annual output, will strengthen its position among renewable energy sources. The development of new wind farms is also considered one of the tools for diversifying the structure of electricity production in Uzbekistan.
