Uzbekistan will develop and publish a National Master Plan for Energy Development until 2050. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the preparation of the document on October 16 at a meeting with industry investors. The plan should show in which regions electricity consumption is expected to grow, what infrastructure will be required, and where it is more profitable to place new generating capacities.
The document will be prepared in stages: by March 1, 2027, a map of connection opportunities to power grids will be presented, and by July 1, the full master plan. It will become the basis for a new approach to project selection: the state will determine needs in advance, prepare sites, and conduct open tenders. The first stage will be bidding for six solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 2200 MW.

By 2030, Uzbekistan expects to create 22 thousand MW of new generating capacities, increase annual electricity generation to more than 129 billion kWh, and bring the share of renewable sources to 54%. Masdar representatives supported long-term planning, noting that transparent tenders and predictable conditions are important for attracting investments.
