Uzbekistan and China have agreed to implement a major "green" energy project based on the "Namangan Cement" enterprise. The agreement was reached within the framework of the trade, economic and investment forum "Uzbekistan-China (Shenzhen)" following negotiations between the governor of Namangan region Shavkatzhon Abdurazzokov and the head of Sinoma Hefei Cement Research & Design Institute Corporation Ltd He Weishuai.
The project, worth $43 million, involves the construction of a 60 MW power facility using renewable energy sources. The investment agreement has already been signed, and 25 hectares of land in the hilly part of the Chust district will be allocated for the station. After commissioning, it is planned to cover up to 80% of the cement plant's electricity needs with "green" generation.
The project is scheduled to launch in September 2026. It will become part of a program to modernize industry, aimed at improving energy efficiency, reducing the carbon footprint and introducing environmentally sustainable solutions. Regional authorities expect that the project will not only reduce the burden on the power system, but also set a new standard for the use of renewable energy sources in the industrial sector of Uzbekistan.
