From April 1, 2026, a portion of payments in Uzbekistan will be converted to cashless form, which will increase the volume of transactions via bank cards. At the same time, no new restrictions are being introduced for clients — existing financial monitoring procedures continue to apply.
Banks continue to be guided by internal rules for combating money laundering, terrorism financing, and risk management. With the increase in the number of cashless payments, only the number of transactions automatically subject to verification will increase.
An operation may be deemed suspicious if, within 30 days, a client transfers or receives an amount exceeding 500 times the basic calculation amount (approximately 206 million soums) to other cards or electronic wallets. Frequent transfers involving more than five cards or wallets within a short period also raise additional attention. In such cases, the data is sent to authorized bodies in accordance with Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 402 of June 29, 2021.
Automatic blocking is not provided: an analysis of the operation is carried out first. If necessary, the bank has the right to request documents confirming the legality of the origin of funds. If confirmation is provided, restrictions are not applied.
However, with regular repetition of dubious operations, the client may be classified as high risk. Refusal to provide the requested information may be grounds for unilateral termination of the service agreement.
