A new mechanism to protect citizens from credit fraud is being launched in Uzbekistan: from April 22, loans taken out by fraudsters in someone else's name will be canceled. The corresponding decision has been made by the Central Bank and has already been registered by the Ministry of Justice.
To use the protection, the victim needs to contact law enforcement agencies. After that, an inspection and investigation are carried out. If the fact of fraud is confirmed, an official decision is sent to the financial organization through which the loan was issued.
On the basis of this document, the bank or MFI is obliged to stop accruing debt, interest and penalties, as well as stop their collection. If the money has already been debited, it must be returned to the client's account. At the same time, the lender retains the right to challenge the decision and initiate a re-examination if there are doubts about the fact of fraud.
